Guest guest
Does anyone know of some references they could recommend regarding decresing self-talk/ delayed echolalia/ tv talk, etc? Thanks, le
Guest guest
le -- I don't have any references for you (and I would love to find some!), but my daughter is in the habit of asking for something over and over, even while you are getting it for her. Sometimes it is repeated echolalia. She's done it for years. As you have no doubt found, ignoring it doesn't work. I started counting out loud the times she repeats something, and she will stop repeating the phrase and sometimes continue the count. This works better for me than anything else. Asking questions about what she is talking about or telling her to stop do not work; asking her what we are doing now sometimes works, especially if I prompt her with sign language.
