Data Collection, Graphing, and Interpretation Saturday, July 17, 2010, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Workshop with Amber Valentino, Psy. For more details, email CEUs@.... Rationale/Purpose: Data collection, analysis and interpretation are the foundation of the science of applied behavior analysis. Making data based treatment decisions is crucial for quality intervention for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. This workshop will focus on various methods of data collection (frequency, rate, and duration), single case designs, and interpreting trend, level, and variability to make data-based decisions. This workshop is geared toward parents and professionals with past experience in the field of applied behavior analysis. Basic knowledge of behavior analytic concepts and data collection are required prerequisites for attendance at this workshop. This workshop will focus on: .. Conceptualization of target behaviors .. Data interpretation in single case treatment with specific focus on the reversal, multiple baseline, multielement, and changing criterion designs .. Advanced discussion of case examples and samples from the behavioral literature Learning Objectives: (After this workshop participants will.) · Write an interpretation of data after examining a graph which shows experimental control for at least four sample single case designs · List at least 1 advantage and 1 disadvantage of four types of single case designs · When provided with a sample scenario, write an operational definition and propose an appropriate design for assessing and treating a target behavior · Identify threats to internal validity in at least two case examples This seminar is free for DAFEAT members. Contact Holly at 937-597-0806. About the presenter. Amber Valentino, Psy.D., BCBA-D earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Xavier University in 2008. She is a licensed psychologist and board certified behavior analyst - doctoral. Dr. Valentino specializes in the assessment and treatment of language deficits particularly in children with autism. She currently works for a nonprofit organization in Atlanta, GA where she is responsible for case management, staff training, supervision of undergraduate and graduate trainees, and parent training/consultation.
