Guest guest
<<I think I ate a half a box of cheese crackers, just by grabbing handfuls here and there. Today I went to the Hospital everyone-expecting to have only a Consultation, and Ended up being there for around 2 1/2 hours and that Wasn't a Load of waiting either!>> Janet, That sucks big time that you have to wait so long to get your final diagnosis!! Let me give you a bit of info while you wait. Sjögren's syndrome is an autoimmune condition (ie your immune system reacts towards itself) which presents with dry mucosas (ie eyes and mouth). It is usually associated with another autoimmune condition although not always (so don't be surprised to find out that you have 2 diagnoses). The diagnosis is usually confirmed by a biopsy of the lip (they may not do that to you though). Not all people with dry eyes or dry mouth have Sjögren's syndrome. The treatment for autoimmune diseases in general is with steroids to suppress the immune reaction. Although, other medications are often used depending on the severity or the nature of the disease. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me, because I know a little bit about autoimmune diseases (being in the medical profession and suffering from an autoimmune disease myself: Hashimoto's thyroiditis).
