Guest guest
I prefer Lowe's as it seems less confusing to me than Home Depot. I don't know if they have coir bricks though. I would imagine so. Might just go in next couple of days to check it out. Walmarts may have it too. Guest guest
Lowes usually carries the coir liners, but not the bricks. Some of their liners are synthetic coir though, so you will want to check the labels. The only coir liners I have seen at Walmart were the synthetic ones. > > > > Of course I MADE A VIDEO. > > > > lol > > > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIZxowRiKUk > > > > Melody > > > > > > >

Guest guest
What is a coir liner? Is it just a little pad that lines a flat tray? There was a brick of coir (a small one) insdie an  amaryllis plant I bought there. Would the coir liners be less messy? The bricks have to be wet, don't they? And then when really wet put in the varius pots or whatever. Laying down a liner sounds easier to do, but likely more expensive. Guest guest
The liners are meant to go in those wrought iron pots...they look like this: http://www.collectionsetc.com/Product/3-tiered-iron-plant-stand-with-coir-plante\ r-trays.aspx You can find the liners without the planters, cut those and use them as a growing medium. Guest guest
Carolyn: I did exactly that and they said " What do you mean you plant in coconuts??? " lol And today was very funny. As I was walking around the HUMONGOUS Home Depot, trying to find Aisle 51, I asked a guy wearing an orange vest (all the workers there wear orange vests), I asked him " Where is the Coconut Coir? " He looked at me and said " The coconut WHAT?? " I explained what coir was and he just looked at me. I just stood there and said 'Point me to the potting soil, it will be there " . He said " Oh you want the nursery, over there and he points towards the right. So I go walking and they had all the seeds and potting soil mixes, and as you can see in the video I made, they had 5 bricks of coir. I took them all. They had other burpee growing kits. I would imagine they were little things of coir that were inserted in little trays and you can grow 12 plants in those things. So I picked up the coir bricks and as I went onto another aisle and was looking at the Rubbermaid reveal, the guy who I had asked came over to me and asked me the following: " Mind if I ask you a question about the coconut thing you just got? " I said " Sure " He said " what do you mean you grow stuff in coconut fiber " I said " In my kitchen I have shelves and I have trays and I don't use soil, I use these bricks " . He said " how the h can you grow stuff using these bricks of coconuts? " I said 'you re-hydrate with water and it turns into 8 quarts " He looked at me and said " IT DOES??? " Holy Cow!! I burst out laughing because I'm educating a guy who works at Home Depot. Now if that isn't the funniest thing!!! And he was VERY impressed. lol, Melody > > > > > > Of course I MADE A VIDEO. > > > > > > lol > > > > > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIZxowRiKUk > > > > > > Melody > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
I meet the nicest people (except the ones who say " too much work " . But the others, (not that I'm expecting any of them to go out and buy sprouting supplies), but the fact that (and this happened this morning), I was coming home from breakfast and I always pass Dunkin Donuts and one of my friends is usually sitting there having coffee. She waves me in and says " How are your pea shoots, I love hearing about this " . So I sit down and regale her with stores of how the darn things don't stop shooting up. She was hysterical. I always give her a bag of sprouts, some sunnies and now I'll give her some pea shoots. She's 75, looks 55 and doesn't cook at all. Guest guest
Hi : Well, if this is a habit, God bless me, because it's the best habit I ever had. Now a question about Flax seeds. I have a bag of organic flax. I know it's muscilaginous (like the Chia seeds). EW said I can grow mung beans like I do the sunnies (in the Coir). Can I do this with the Flax?? Ever tried this? Guest guest
I have a neighbor who is in her late 80's and she doesn't cook much at all. She figures she is retired. Problem is that her male friend who lives next door to me doesn't really cook much either. They go out and split the check and sometimes buys food together and share lunch or snacks, etc. She is not getting around as much now as she fell and broke her neck but thankfully is alive and is walking around okay. She does have to wear a neck brace which is driving her crazy. She got an okay to take it off to wash or shower. It has been about 7 weeks and she couldn't so this is a relief. She can't get the neck brace wet. I can't quite imagine her doing just sprouts. She likes her morning donuts and coffee as well though sometimes I think she just does brunch. If I ate donut, I'd think of that as dessert and I'd want something else.
