But that didnt stop me of course. only 2 or 3 times she has responded to me in the month that ive been there but I stil continue to talk to her an dplay with her and today we stacked blocks together and she even counted them (without my help). LOL, you are not a complete failure, you're not even an incomplete failure.

The pres wanted to use you for a free speaking engagement, was embarrassed

to tell you, so she had a " grandchild " issue to keep her home, and then they

weren't organized enough to give you the same courtesy they would give

someone they paid for. At least you stuck to your guns and demanded to be

treated as a professional.

LOL, ew - you gave me a needed smile tonight! Glad you're feeling better

today - maybe like a partial success? (Not to be confused with an impartial

success, LOL).

I've heard that we are what we eat.  But I believe it is more accurate that we

are what we think we are.  So why choose to think negatively?  You have somany

skills in so many areas.  I am on here to try to learn.  And to share as

well.  Have a great weekend.

I second that opinion.

We are what we THINK we are.

I used to think I was an over 300 lb woman who used a cane to get around.

Unfortunately, what I thought turned out to be true.

What do I think I am NOW???

A 30 year old tootsie who sprouts!!

Hey, you never know!!

lol

The price is so good on that one that I wonder why more aren't using it.  I

could get about 3 of them for the price of one of the round ones.  $7.95 is

great.  But with shipping being the same, more worthwhile to get more than one

as long as shipping stays the same.  I can't see why the bean sprouts or the

sunflowers wouldn't do well in that.  How is the drainage on it?  I have seen

some square trays and especially for microgreens.  Even if they put coir in

them why wouldn't they work?  Guess I don't understand why something has to be

placed on top of them to weight them down.  But the price was really good on

that unit.  That is cheaper than a  sprouting jar.  Of course takes more room

than a jar but it is 2 levels high.  I am not quite sure when they need to be

taken out and dried off and put in the refrigerator.  Is a plastic bag okay or

does the bag have to breathe when put in refrigerator.  So far I've been eating

up what I had and

had it almost gone before I start another batch.  I am not eating enough of

it.

When did I start sprouting? Has to be over 4 years now. I remember going to a

family member's 50 wedding anniversary and that was definitely over 4 years ago.

I remember I started sprouting using a little square 2 tray sprouting tray. Just

found it so you can see how I began.

http://www.gardensalive.com/product.asp?pn=3947

I remember bringing the Garden's Alive catalog to the party and we were all

sitting around the table and I said " oh guess what, I have a new hobby, let me

show you what I've been doing " . (And this was WAY BEFORE a sprout kitchen, round

green trays or anything. I think I was sprouting alfalfa and radish sprouts.

So I'm showing various people the little tray and they all looked at me and

politely smiled and thought I was nuts, as they dug into their veal cutlet

parmigiana and food from the preceding cocktail hour. I think I ordered the

Salmon at the time.

I began quietly talking about the benefit of eating low-salt, low fat and low

carb if one was diabetic (and everything at the table, about 8 of us were ALL

diabetic. This was my hubbies side of the family.

No one was interested.

They are still not. So I just help others who seek me out. It's not the other

way around. Not anymore.

I love the little square stacked tray ones like that-I use them in my motorhome.

I also have several round ones that are similar.

Mel, your first email to the Sproutpeople list was early December 2008. So that

would put you at about 3 and a half years. I know that because I responded to

you and I have that email in my sent mail folder. It is amazing how far you have

come in such a short time!

Ah, but when did I actually start SPROUTING?? Not joining this forum. That was

way before. Once I find out the date of that anniversary party I attended, THEN

I'll know exactly when I began my sprouting adventures. By coming here on this

forum, that's when I began doing mason jars, and round green trays. I have to

ask my sister in law when the party was.

I could swear it was over 4 years. I'll update.

Hi there. Oh yeah, it flies by so fast, I'm hitting 65 this year and I remember

when my grandmother was 65 thinking " oh my god, she's old " , but then she was

GRANDMA, with gray hair, aprons and baking italian stuff.

I'm no one's grandma!!!! lol

And I just called my sister in law and asked her when I started sprouting and

when was the anniversary party and she immediately knew it was 4 years ago, give

or take a few months.

So I've been an official SPROUTER for 4 years.

And now I'm a sunny and pea shoot sprouter too!!

I wonder what other seeds I can sprout like sunflowers and pea shoots. That I

can put in my coir and sprout the same way. I must add a new sprout.

I just rediscovered sprouting and I have had 2 sprout batches and one that

didn't work.  I sprouted a bit years ago when my kids were growing up.  I

can't say I love it but it is interesting and I like the things I've gotten.  I

think I like the taste of the 4 seed salad sprouts better than just alfalfa.

Has an interesting taste with radish, broccoli, clover and alfalfa.  Does the

clover have a sweet taste?  I could figure out radish by the taste as it has a

little nice bite, much better to me than a whole radish.

will copy and paste the entire conversation below to help you remember. Your

Hey Melody;

Welcome to the group!

You can find a lot of high quality information at this group's sponsor

sproutpeople.com

as well as from the people on this group. The Sproutpeople website is a great

resource, and even though I have been sprouting for over thirty years it took my

sprouting to an entirely new level.

I have a few medical problems as a result of being a type 1 diabetic for almost

four decades. I remain quite healthy in spite of my medical problems. Are you

type 1 or type 2 diabetes? I think that my good health is due to my eating

sprouts and the other elements in my diet.

You really don't need to eat fish to get enough protein, you are already on the

right track by eating sprouts, they all have protein and lentil sprouts are

particularly good, and cooked beans are also good (sprouted or not). Tofu is not

very healthy (I've never heard the tumor thing though). It's best to eat the

bacterial or mold fermented soy products that the Asian people eat. Natural soy

sauce and tempeh are the easiest to start with; natto is something I eat only

because I feel better when I eat it regularly than when I don't; miso is an

acquired taste, but it can be acquired.

Congratulations on the weight loss!

My grandmother was always old. My husband's mother seems old too.  My neighbor

who is a good friend is same as or older than my MIL and she is not what I'd

call old.  She did just fall 6 weeks ago and broke her neck and has a neck

brace on but she still gets around but is really down right now because of the

lack of being able to move her head as she wants. She is to keep it in place

until it heals. She is lucky as alive and also walks okay.  She is having a bit

o balance problem though.  I have a tiny bit of grey hair right near my face on

sides, but next week will be highlighting it with carmel and that will make it

disappear and put other streaks in.  My dad kept his dark hair too, though his

beard was really grey.  I heard that sprouts can turn the grey back to regular

color.  I don't know what kind but there was someoen making something on here

or one of the youtube sites who said that.  Or maybe was in one of my two new

sprouting books (old

books andmine were bought used onAmazon but I like them).  I need to get  up

and move, too as 30 min a day is supposed to be needed.

Carolyn:

the square trays that I showed you the link to , well they are TINY. I have

never done mung beans in those things. I have used either mason jars, bowls or

my round green trays to grow mung beans. The reason you add weights is that as

they grow they fight to get to the top and they plump up. I guess there is a

more scientific explanation but I think mine is easier.

Sort of like birds and chicks having to pick open their shell and it makes

them stronger.  If someone opens for them, they don't live long as they don't

build up the strength they need.  The square trays looked about  10 or 12 "

wide in the photo.  I guess I should have looked at the size if it was there.
