Guest guest Posted March 30, 2010 Report Share Posted March 30, 2010 DAFEAT Workshop (Dayton Area Families for Effective Autism Treatment) " Ask for Anything, Part 2: Mand Training with Vocal Responses and Advanced Requesting Skills " Saturday, April 17, 2010 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. With Amber Valentino, Psy.D., BCBA-D Location: The Children's Medical Center of Dayton One Children's Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404 Auditorium (Lower Level) Please note: Even though Dr. Amber Valentino presented this workshop last year, she has modified and updated this workshop so it will include different video examples and some procedural changes based on recent literature. Many children with autism and other developmental disabilities have developed basic requesting skills yet still experience frustration at being unable to express advanced requests. Participants in this workshop will learn how to develop beginning to intermediate requesting skills in children who have developed vocal language skills. An additional focus of the workshop will be on developing advanced skills such as asking questions, using adjectives, using prepositions and carrier phrases. This seminar is free for DAFEAT members. Amber Valentino, Psy.D., BCBA-D earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Xavier University in 2008. She is a licensed psychologist and board certified behavior analyst - doctoral. Dr. Valentino specializes in the assessment and treatment of language deficits particularly in children with autism. She currently works for a nonprofit organization in Atlanta, GA where she is responsible for case management, staff training, supervision of undergraduate and graduate trainees, and parent training/consultation.
