Guest guest
Hey Terri, sorry to tell you this but beets are all but impossible to sprout. You might be able to grow them as a microgreen but personally I have never had any success at that. Hopefully some one with more positive results will weigh in. Lee > Hi, my name is Terri, and I am completely new to this group and to sprouting; as a matter of fact I am trying my hand at my first batch of sprouts today. I have read and re-read the information, mostly because I do not want to get sick or make anyone else sick :-) I have beet seeds, which I hear are amazingly healthy for you and was just wondering if anyone has any tips, as I haven't seen much in the way of beets being discussed. Also, if there is a better thread for me to be on any direction would be much appreciated. You all have a nice day. ~ Terri
Guest guest
Dang. They were sold as " sprouting seeds " , guess I should have done my homework first. I do have others that I am gonna try, but I was extra excited about the beets. Thanks for the reply, I will certainly keep you informed as to any success :-) > > > Hi, my name is Terri, and I am completely new to this group and to sprouting; as a matter of fact I am trying my hand at my first batch of sprouts today. Guest guest
Try and find out for yourself. Maybe take a part of them and try to sprout them and then if it doesn't work, you can try something else and use the others. Good luck. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Thursday, March 22, 2012 1:29 PM Subject: Re: Total Newbie Here  Dang. Guest guest
I am a newbie too and have 2 completed sprout trays done and mostly eaten and have some 4 seed salad sprouts going now and some mixed bean sprouts that are sprouting and some alfalfa seeds that are just starting out. I have more seeds ordered for sprouting and I have some seeds ordered and some arrived for planting in the garden or in the aerogarden which I just ordered. This is a great group to learn a great deal. They present videos on youtube too and so go to those. Check out sprouting on the youtube and you will find all kinds of things. You can check up on each kind of seed as well and get information on line or at youtube or with this group. I am really enjoying myself. Sort of wish we could all get together and share but we live around different places. Guest guest
I understood that the sprouting seeds will sprout for beet greens for sprouts but getting them from there to growing in the ground may be a problem.
