Dear Friends,

As you likely know, Dr. Partington is the primary author of the ABLLS-R, a

crucial and user friendly assessment and curriculum for teaching language

to children with autism and other developmental disabilities, and co-author

of Teaching Language to Children with Autism and Other Developmental

Disabilities. You also will be introduced to the Web ABLLS-R, which I have

found to be very useful and time effective. This assessment is also applicable

for teaching adults better communication skills, as well.

If you would be so kind as to take a moment to forward this along to your

list serves, groups, parents and web pages. This workshop will benefit

parents and professionals. Learn and support further development of

educational programming for those with autism and other developmental

disabilities.

I strongly encourage those case managers and parents involved with the

Home Based Children's Services waiver to attend. It is important that there

is a greater understanding of the types of ABA services that are provided by

Behavior Analysts. In simple terms, this workshops focuses on assessment

for intense skill acquisition and deciding what to teach at home and

integrate into a child's IEP, as opposed to development of a comprehensive

behavior intervention plan to reduce severe problem behavior. However,

communication deficits and choosing to work on goals with missing prerequisite

skills often leads to severe problematic behavior.
