Guest guest
I thought Sure To Grow pads would be a great option, and many people swear by them, however I had no success growing sunnies on them. The sunflower greens had a funny, almost fishy off taste when I grew them on the pads. Inedible!!! For myself, soil is best for the sunflower greens, sprinkled w/ a bit of earthworm castings, as recommended by Sproutpeople. Sure to Grow Pads. I have a question Hi All. Before I get started in my sunflower sprouts quest, I'm still looking at various soil less growing mediums. I just found this option. http://living-whole-foods-inc.amazonwebstore.com/10-Pack-of-Sure-to-Grow/M/B0058\ PXA7W.htm?traffic_src=froogle & utm_medium=CSE & utm_source=froogle<http://living-wh\ ole-foods-inc.amazonwebstore.com/10-Pack-of-Sure-to-Grow/M/B0058PXA7W.htm?traffi\ c_src=froogle & utm_medium=CSE & utm_source=froogle> Seems ideal. So here's some questions. Can this be used in my glass pie plates to grow sunflower sprouts. (there are no drain holes). or does this medium need to be in those rectangle trays with the drain holes? So if anyone has grown microgreens in this medium, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks much Melody
Guest guest
So I use this sure to grow pad instead of regular soil. I don't have to put drain holes in it, and (there's a video on this up on youtube), the guy has one of those 11 by 20 growing trays, he puts in this sure to grow pad, he waters it, he sprinkles seeds, he again waters it and then he puts a humidity dome. I don't have this setup. I have two pie plates, and no humidity dome. So from what you indicate, I don't need any humidity dome. I just use my pie plates and in 7 to 10 days I'll have sunflower sprouts. If this is so, believe me, I'm going with this, and I'll take my newly purchased organic soil, go in front of my house where I have this big rectangular flower pot, and grow fresh basil and other herbs right in front of my house (like I did last year) but now I have new organic soil. Sound like a plan?? lol Melody > > These will work for you. You just have to cut a circle out to fit into your pie dish. > ew > > Sure to Grow Pads. Guest guest
Mel, Turn your upper plate upside down and you have a humidity dome. Just remember don't over water. You don't want your seed too wet. They will mold and make you unhappy. ew Sure to Grow Pads.
