Direct Instruction programs can be effective for students with ASD. They offer research-based and empirically-validated instruction in Reading, Language and Mathematics. This workshop will prepare participants to use DI programs effectively with students with ASD. Participants will learn how: â DI programs are designed and structured for effective learning â DI programs address the specific needs of students with ASD â To choose programs for teaching reading and language â To appropriately place children in instructional programs â To form flexible small groups based on assessment information â To use in-program assessments to monitor student performance and progress â To motivate children during instructional sessions â To judiciously adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with ASD.
