Do you love kids?

Would you like to teach, tutor, or baby-sit?

A 10-year-old boy with autism needs your help developing play skills, practicing

language, getting exercise, learning academic and self-help skills, and going on

community and social outings. Previous experience preferred, but extensive

initial and ongoing training is provided to teach all of these skills. Our

program has weekly team meetings on Monday afternoons and monthly trainings with

educational/behavior consultants (BCBA and MS SLP/CCC). Additional one-on-one

trainings, seminars, and observation opportunities at Occupational therapy and

Speech therapy appointments are available. Hours can be used towards BCBA or

BCaBA certification.

Our program requires: creative play skills (natural environment teaching),

scientific documentation (discreet trial table work, scientific data collection,

documentation & analysis), organizational skills, and good old-fashioned fun,

and energy. Great opportunity for students or professionals to be part of a

strong home intervention program located in the Durham/Chapel Hill, NC area that

uses behavioral-based play therapy (ABA-VB).

Three positions are available.

1.Recreation Therapy – Our son needs someone to help with sensory regulation and

exercise throughout the day, plus outings to swim, bike, climb, and hike.

2.ABA Tutor – Provides 1:1 services to teach speech, social, academic,

behavioral and self-help skills based on a structured program supervised by

consultants.

3.Lead ABA Tutor / Program Manager – Includes ABA tutor duties plus the

responsibility for program/data management, materials preparation and

implementation of structured program supervised by consultants.

A 2+ year commitment is needed.

A clean driving record, reliability, and 12-32 hour a week commitment is

required.

Please e-mail availability, qualifications and resume to goldcarin@....

Positions available for late Summer/Fall 2009 and Winter/Spring 2010.
