Guest guest
Hello, I have a 5 year old child with Autism and am in search of the best recommended private (and or public) schools, specially, for children with Autism, who also look into inclusion with NT kids. My son is an intermediate learner right now and is falling through the cracks of special education in public school system. He doesn't fit either in self contained class or in general ed class with an aid. I am looking for the schools with small student-teacher ratio and the teachers have behavioral therapy training. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Although we live in Ashburn VA, we are open to suggestions throughout the country. Thanks Krishna
Guest guest
Hi Krishna, You might try contacting VIA (Virginia Institute of Autism) www.viaschool.org in Charlottesville, VA. The good news is that they have a great relationship with the public school (Albemarle County) and have a therapist to go to as much public school as he/she needs and come back to VIA for any extra work that needs to happen. The bad news is that there is a waiting list, but they might be able to give you some options. Guest guest
You might try the Kenneddy-Krieger schools. There is one in Baltimore, and one in Rockville for middle and high school kids. My daughter goes there. Darla
