Guest guest
My daughter() can do the following with Math. I need help with what else do I need to do before I start with addition. 1.Recognize all the numbers from 1-100 2.Write them from 1-100 3.rote count to 100 or to a certain number. 4.Count them(till 10 is very good, after that is a little weak) 5.Count out a few( a certain number) out of many, ex: give me 7 crayons. 6.She can do quantity to symbol association. 7. Without counting, looking at a heap of 10 objects Vs a heap of 2 objects she can say what heap is kore and what heap is less. She does NOT understand the concept of more and less in numbers, like 7 is more and 4 is less. Can i start to teach addition with her or she has to know that what number is more or less? Also, I need ideas as to how to teach both of these. 1.How do I teach what number is more and hwat number is less. 2. How do I start with simple addition? Do you all suggest a protocol like saxon math, sindapore math etc or just with simple math addition worksheets? Sorry for the long post...Thanks a lot for your help. Guest guest
Siegfried and Therese Engelmann offer some good suggestions for teaching simple addition and subtraction problems in the book " Give Your Child A Superior Mind. " They suggest the following counting prerequisites: Counting to Thirty (I like their suggestion of making it a recital of the series before bed as a lights out tool. building from 10, then 15, then 30) Counting Backward from 10 to 0 Counting every other number (as an intraverbal game; you say one, she says two, and so forth) Answering " What comes after one? " Skipping Pattern: " What comes after one? " " two " What comes after three? " " four " etc. Backward Pattern: " What comes after nine? " " ten " What comes after eight? " " nine " etc. (Counting by 2s, 3s, etc. would probably help with multiplication (addition too) down the road) I also has some good teaching tips on how to introduce addition and the order in which addition/subtraction problems should be presented. Hope this is helpful, Aimee formydear9 wrote: > > > My daughter() can do the following with Math.
