Click Here to Order DAFEAT's T-Shirts or Hoodies Establishing Instructional Control Workshop DATE: Saturday, January 23, 2010 Registration deadline is January 15, 2010 TIME: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (lunch on your own) LOCATION: The Children's Medical Center of Dayton, One Children's Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404 ROOM: Auditorium, Lower Level MORE INFORMATION: This workshop will focus on: a.. the use of behavioral techniques to maximize the quality of teaching. b.. analyzing problem behaviors that typically inhibit effective instruction. c.. how to create a more optimal teaching situation. d.. introducing participants to Verbal Behavior techniques necessary to addressing primary language needs. e.. how to get the student to come to you willingly and excited to learn! After this workshop participants will... a.. have a better understanding of how to motivate the student to learn. b.. be able to better identify and alter reinforcers that are maintaining interfering behaviors. c.. learn the importance of identifying and teaching replacement behaviors. d.. be able to conduct a functional assessment of negative behaviors. e.. learn to use the procedures of behavior analysis including shaping, differential reinforcement, extinction, and contriving motivation operations. f.. have a better understanding of the 3 primary categories of negative behaviors. CEU's Available PLEASE NOTE: Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs). The registration deadline is January 15, 2010. About Dr. Sundberg... Carl T. Sundberg, Ph.D., BCBA-D is the director of the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism (BACA), located in Fishers, Indiana. He received his doctorate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University under the direction of Dr. Jack . Dr. Sundberg utilizes B.F. Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior within the framework of applied behavior analysis to teach children with language and social deficits. As a graduate student, he taught behavior analysis at Western Michigan University for 7 years. Dr. Sundberg has publications in The Analysis of Verbal Behavior and A Collection of Reprints on Verbal Behavior. Since 1996 Dr. Sundberg has assessed and worked with more than 400 children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders and has worked with over 150 families. In addition to private consulting, Dr. Sundberg also works with school districts and speaks at conferences across the nation. Additionally, he teaches Verbal Behavior at Ball State University and is the Vice President of the Indiana Association for Behavior Analysis.
