TOMORROW’S VOICES - BERMUDA AUTISM EARLY INTERVENTION CENTRE

This new Early Intervention Centre specializing in Verbal Behavior

Therapy for children under the Autism Spectrum is looking for

enthusiastic staff to be a part of this landmark facility for

Bermuda. The following is are job descriptions for which we are

accepting applications. A minimum of 2 years commitment is required

for these positions.

DIRECTOR

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required to head an Early

Intervention Centre for children under the Autism Spectrum. Minimum

of 3 years experience assessing and designing programs using ABLLS

and Verbal Behavior. Must have management experience, good

organizational skills, strong leadership skills, be personable and be

able to oversee the day to day running of an early intervention

centre. Must be able to lead a team of therapists and work well

within that team.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, knowledgeable, experienced,

compassionate, innovative, strategic thinking, team player who is a

BCBA to lead our centre as Director.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required.

• Experience as a Director/Program Director for a minimum of 4 years

• Minimum of 4 years experience designing, implementing and assessing

programs using the ABLLS and ABA/Verbal Behavior. Also have an

understanding of other assessment tools used for children under the

autism spectrum

• Hands-on experience working with children using Skinner’s Analysis

of Verbal Behavior within the Applied Behavior Analysis profession

• Must also have an understanding of other treatment methods - RDI,

Greenspan’s Floortime, Sensory Integration, etc.

• Must have an understanding of complimenting therapies such as OT,

PT, SLP.

• Clinical competence in family therapy, behavior therapy, and

cognitive behavioral therapy

• Familiarity with research literature on the causes, correlates, and

treatments of autism and disorders under the autism spectrum

• The ability to train staff, parents and partners (schools, etc) in

ABA and the principles of Verbal Behavior and how to apply the skills

learned

• The ability to provide hands on therapy to clients

• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

• Reports to a Board of Directors

Salary: $90,000 per year (Salary commensurate with experience)

VERBAL BEHAVIOR THERAPISTS

We are accepting resumes for the posts of Verbal Behavior Therapist

to work within an established team. The Verbal Behavior Therapist

will be responsible for carrying out daily hands-on one-on-one

treatment to children with Autism and will report to the Centre’s

Director. Successful candidates must have previous experience working

with children with Autism or disorders under the Autism Spectrum.

Successful candidates must have previous hands-on experience using

Verbal Behavior and Applied Behavior Analysis therapy methods.

Knowledge of the Carbone Clinic model of Verbal Behavior Therapy

would be preferred. Must be energetic, patient, be able to take

directions, and work well in a team environment. Must be creative and

enjoy working with young children with special needs and their

families. Must be able to work independently at times and have good

interpersonal skills. Must be able to design and implement behavioral

strategies with special needs children and their families within the

Centre and school and home environments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, special education or equivalent

• Hands-on experience working with children using Skinner’s Analysis

of Verbal Behavior within the Applied Behavior Analysis profession

• Previous experience using the Assessment of Basic Language and

Learning Skills (ABLLS)

• At least 2 years of prior experience working with children with

Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders using ABA/VB

• Knowledge of the research and literature on the causes, correlates,

and treatments of Autism and disorders under the Autism Spectrum

• Excellent interpersonal skills

Salary: $50,000 per year
