Guest guest
Reg Reynolds The attached file is a good place to start. Personally, I wouldn't be very concerned about getting a diagnosis (since there is no pill that will fix all the problems). It is useful to have an assessment of where he is developmentally, since that is the level at which he needs to be taught, i.e., you can always help him to master the next stages of development. The ABLLS-R is useful (and the H.E.L.P. and the VB-MAPP are alternative " curricula " ). It does sound as if (1) he shows a few characteristics of ASD, and (2) he is coming along quite well. You do say that he shows a Lack of Verbal/non-Verbal Communication, but the interaction and language that you say he has belies that -- MANDING i.e. 40-50 per hr during therapy session; signs for Chips, Candy, Water, TV; Self Babbles & sometimes lot of babbling before bedtime; Like to be tickled lot, enjoy tickling on whole body & small biting. Keep up the good work. Posted by: " mysoulrr " rahulrainarr@... mysoulrr Fri Dec 10, 2010 8:23 pm (PST) Hi, I am father of Son who seems be in Autism spectrum, DOB 3/Sept/2008. He currently undergoing ABA based therapy (5 hrs per wk) with ABA certified therapist. Since my son is only 2yrs 3 months old, we need your advice on which diagnosis tool is recommended at this age. In the Autism related internet sites multiple tools are mention for diagnosis: 1.Diagnostic Assessment i.e. ADI-R , DSM-4, ADOS, CARS, SCQ, SRS 2.Functional Assessment 3.Occupational & Sensory Assessment Could you pls suggest which diagnosis tool will give clear results on severity of his disorder & what level he is on the Autism spectrum? The idea is to understand what additional therapies we should do with him beside ABA (VBA, Speech therapy, dietary modification, Communication therapy, Medications). Can you pls also guide us what is normally done in this diagnosis & what will be duration of this diagnosis. The internet sites on Autism propose diagnosis done by team which comprises of: 1.Development Paediatrician 2.Child neurologist or psychologist 3.Psychologist (Clinical) 4.Child Psychiatrist 5.Speech Therapist Major Miles stones - Male, Born 3/Sept/2008 - Pregnancy at 34 wks 3 days, Condition IUGR + Pre-Eclampsia - Good Motor skills, Good hand eye coordination - Sitting (Independently) by 7 months - Climbing stairs by 9 months - Walking (independently) by 11 months - Babbling with Self by 14 months - Learned to do Clapping & Bye-bye with hands 16 months - Started with ABA based therapy approx. 5 hrs/wk since mid Oct/10 - Started with Playgroup school approx. 10-15 hrs/wk since Nov/10 General Observations 1.Lack of Verbal/non-Verbal Communication 2.Does not respond when Called by his name, it seems he don't understand his name 3. He do clapping when asked to do so 4.No specific restriction or choice on food 5.Good sleep cycle 6.Good motor skills likes to play on swings, Slides in Garden 7.Like to be tickled lot, enjoy tickling on whole body & small bitting 8.Less attention span while playing; switch between different rides 9.Obsessed with watching Advertisements, Songs, specific cartoons (Teletubbies ...) on TV 10.Obsessed with Mirror (like to watch him self in Mirror) 11.Self Babbles & sometimes lot of babbling before bedtime 12.He likes to watch Patterns mostly circular i.e. likes to watch Care Wheels or Round Toys 13.Like to play with his hands (Some times) 14.Now stop waving for bye-bye & AAJA (Come here) Observation after start of ABA Therapy mid Oct/2010 1.Main changes are No shouting & improved eye contact 2.Overall increase in MANDING i.e. 40-50 per hr during therapy session 3.Picked up few signs for Chips, Candy, Water, TV. Still scrolling between signs. 4.Often mix up with signs or wrong signs or always use chips sign for asking anything 5.Manages to finish 9 pieces Shape sorter & other small puzzles
Guest guest
ABA deals with every developmental situation where it's done right, of taking you where you should be going when for understanding more and justice for the individual. (My development of as much) It's self-diagnosing and rectifying in that respect, (with what you're dealing with, that anything could deal with as much better, with respect to education and training) so you don't need to go so much with other things (assessments) unless you're trying to meet a political or social criteria for other things like money and social/political support (otherwise of ABA of as much, very often, if not also of the problem, where so unrelated and unrelating? .. . Other issues you might be concerned about are not typically (categorically) related to autism and are best dealt with by addressing the underlying health condition(s) or issue(s), (them being separate and distinct things of their own, where they exist) very often best done by visiting a good doctor and/or pediatrician/developmental pediatrician who would/should refer you to specialized medical/health experts/practitioners in that respect, for testing and evaluation by as much for as much, expertise (of a battery of tests where necessary) of dealing with the underlying health conditions and issues with respect to treating them so, where *you* are referred to as the primary caregiver, (in that respect? let us more than hope?) where you are, and I would recommend, to those who care so much for their child, as should be treated so, for as much as you could get where so understanding and for understanding yourself, ie., go with what *you* understand for your child and not so much, otherwise, (as with the darkness of the alternative) that you would be dealing with the right people and resources in that respect, of all that you could achieve by as much. It seems you need to be dealing with all that from the data you've provided. Glavic God is Understanding, as far as *I'm* concerned (That anything else should matter so much, of The big/ger picture? [in putting the pieces together?] where you could do the analysis so far? I'm thinking/feeling that that'd be the kind of *evidence/criteria* you should be looking for, with respect to getting so far.. . It's *communicating,* (of what is virtuous?) that you could get so far otherwise but the premise if not promise of ABA is that you can't, would be my sense/calculation of it.. I've actually gone on past it (The term and concept behind ABA) to identify it better as Applied Communication Analysis, (ACA) that anything else would be more meaningful to be analyzing, (for where we are trying to go with ABA and all that we could achieve? if not of the cognitive, of as much, Hello) that that wouldn't also include behavior, that Verbal Behavior (as an ABA protocol) doesn't try to say and do as much, but I Feel It Does.. Best wishes, Thereof, and not so much otherwise? .. . Of, *Communication* provides The answer(s) (An answer?!. Choice, of such choice/s, that we can come up with in that respect?!.) and serves *Justice,* Individual justice, by as much, that everything else *would* matter by as much, and also make so much sense (as that? of as much!) that anything else would be so meaningful, of Understanding More First choice. > > Hi, > > I am father of Son who seems be in Autism spectrum, DOB 3/Sept/2008.
