Guest guest
Early Bird Registration extended until 9/30/10! October 15, 2010 ~ 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Autism Intervention: Making Better Choices through Science Keynote Address: Dr. Maurice, Founding Member of ASAT, Author (Let Me Hear Your Voice,1993) Location: Molloy College Suffolk Center,7180 Republic Airport ( Grumman Lane ), East Farmingdale, NY 11735 There are literally hundreds of interventions for autism, although the vast majority of these lack any scientific support. Unfortunately, eclectic approaches that are not grounded in science prevail in many public schools. Fringe treatments are afforded widespread media coverage, and the internet is filled with misinformation and unsubstantiated claims. This full day workshop will provide a step-by-step approach to understanding not only what it means for an intervention to be science-based but which of the currently available treatments enjoy existing scientific support. Important considerations for choosing interventions will be highlighted, along with strategies for evaluating outcomes. This workshop is open to professionals, parents, and students; however, we ask that attendees respect our belief that science and scientific methods are not only relevant to discussions of autism treatment but should serve as the foundation upon which treatments should be chosen, implemented, and evaluated. $50 for Full Time Students ($60 After 9/30/10) $60 for Parents of ASD Children ($70 After 9/30/10) $100 for Professionals ($125 After 9/30/10) 4.5 CEU's Available for BCBA's ($40 Payable to NYSABA, AFTER the conference. Guest guest
If they stopped changing the vaccine schedule and ingredients, we would have figured out what causes each problem and what works by now. As it is, they keep changing things and we have kids of all different ages who have all different vaccinations and schedules and exposures, it's hard to sort it all out. I believe something was very wrong with the vaccines or schedule for 2002-2004, I know a lot of kids who were damaged very badly from whatever concoction they received as infants/toddlers during that time frame. Perhaps it was leftover thimerosal mixed with extra aluminum. Do you notice a lot of the older kids (10 and up) have learning problems, auditory processing disorder, tics? Do you notice a big increase in speech disorders in the 5-10 year olds? What about feeding problems and reflux in the 5 and under group? I know the problems I mentioned are spread throughout the age groups, but this is my observation of related problems and age groups. I think as much as possible, people need to try to find parents with kids similar to theirs in age and symptoms and share ideas. This has been very helpful for me (and I have been able to help some others). I hate the words " science based " anymore, to me they just mean that Pharma faked a study and everyone should bow down to the results. > > Early Bird Registration extended until 9/30/10! > > October 15, 2010 ~ 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. > > Autism Intervention: Making Better Choices through Science > Keynote Address: Dr. Maurice, Founding Member of ASAT, Author (Let Me Hear Your Voice,1993) > > Location: Molloy College Suffolk Center,7180 Republic Airport ( Grumman Lane ), East Farmingdale, NY 11735 > > There are literally hundreds of interventions for autism, although the vast majority of these lack any scientific support.
