Guest guest
Hi, Suzanne: The post re sprouting amaranth may've been mine. I did successfully sprout the amaranth seeds. I soaked them just ~ 12 hours, rinsed, and have been rinsing them twice daily since. I have some more underway at the moment, and yesterday they developed baby roots. I would say that they behaved pretty much the same as did the alfalfa, which I was sprouting in a different container at the same time. They are very tiny, and I have doubled my cheesecloth to ensure that none would be lost in the rinsing process. They do tend to retain the water, and so at the end of the rinsing, I " sling " the jar up and down rapidly over the sink to attempt to remove all of the rinse water. I really liked them...to my taste, they seemed a bit more flavorful than does the alfalfa. The amaranth was slightly " nutty " in taste. Good luck....you should have no problem if you treat them as you would alfalfa. in McArthur sprouting amaranth? I saw a post earlier this week that someone sprouted amaranth. Is it done the same way as say, alfalfa sprouts? Same/longer soak times? Suzanne
