Guest guest
I have had " feelings " of swelling and numbness, but nothing noticeable with the arches. Teri
Guest guest
Christa, I have always had high arches (as long as I can remember) No swelling though. My orthotics support and cushion my feet, arches especially. Gretchen
Guest guest
Christa, yeah, my arch's are brutal. The swelling gets bad when I have been on my feet for a long time and then the burning comes bad. I try not to over do it but sometime you just can't help it. Guest guest
Christa, I have high arches and my feet also swell horribly when I stand for several minutes. I have numbness in my feet, and they seem to stay cold. I've tried to talk about this to my neurologist and my cardiologist for 3 years, but neither bothered to listen. Finally a new nurse in the cardilogist's office took notes and my doctor gave me " water pills " for the swelling, never explaining the cause of the problem. Other members of the family with CMT have the same problem, but we have never though it might be directly related to CMT, but perhaps to a heart problems. So, I'm interested in reading what anyone has to say about this swelling. Joe
Guest guest
Hi Geri here ..I also have high arches..my feet and legs used to looked like watered logs...what meds are you on? that was part of my problem! I also now watch my salt intake very close! The doctors had me wrap my legs from my toes to below my knees first thing in the morning.(ace bandage) I then put leg warmers on and socks ..then slippers. My legs and my hands are very cold if the temp is below 120*..just kidding below 65*-70*...then I thinking about bringing out my snowmobile suit.. " For in the house " ! Guest guest
hi Geri, he hasn't been given any meds yet we are going to see a dr that just works with kids with CMT. Thank you for your comment
Guest guest
Yes, swelling in your legs can be due to CMT. As you probably know CMT can cause circulatory problems (i.e. the cold hands & feet/legs). Your muscles help with circulation in your legs. Muscle contractions help the veins in your legs " push " the fluid back up the venous system to the heart. If your leg muscles are weak or atrophied, the venous return can be impaired which in return can cause edema (swelling). Holly
