Guest guest
Jackie, My quads are still weak and these braces hold me up just fine,I can stand in one place without holding on to anything,I still wouldn't think about walking on grass or little rocks, they are still new but I really like these because the footplate is more flexible which makes my walk easier not like a robot, walking down ramps are a little easier gives me a little more control,I still walk funny quess I always will, but I will always keep my eyes open, but for now I am very happy with the CUSTOM COMPOSITES and the man that made them RINKO in Fairlawn NJ. Guest guest
What's funny is that my ankles are weak and my quads too strong. I guess all CMT sufferers are different. Dawn
Guest guest
Laine, I'm not saying these will help you but they helped me. There are ankle supports that don't allow a foot drop. They are soft and wrap around the ankle and the ties for them are attached to the shoe lace area. I mention this because I know how it is to feel like a robot walking with the braces beneath your feet. They are relatively inexpensive too. Less than $100. for two (one for each foot). Guest guest
Dawn, Thank You for the info, but I have weak quads and I also needed a brace to support my knees, that's why I went with the Custom Composites they seem to be working out fine, it was my other braces I felt like a robot. Thank you again. Lainie
Guest guest
Dawn: My problem exactly. I used to have Thunder Calves and Thunder Thighs, Now I am left with Thunder Thighs that swing my swizzle stick legs from my hips. Unfortunately, the Thunder Thighs still weigh a ton. I know they don't really weigh 500 pounds each, but the effort to swing the Mighty Pillars takes such effort that I wear short sleeved shirts under a light windbreaker in the coldest weather. I begin sweating about 72 microseconds after leaving the house. Having strong quads wonderful to use, but one pays for the utility with beau-coup sweat. --Larry (Wet but still vertical)
