Cholesterol also runs in my family. I am going to give you all the recipe of a

juice that reduces cholesterol. It has been used in my family for four

generations. It is so effective that my 9-year-old daughter went from 247 to

207 in just three weeks - even without cutting occassional chocolate bars she

gets behind my back from the snack machine at school. It is widely recommended

by heart surgeons in Mexico prior to surgery. Of course, if you avoid shrimp,

cheese and other high fat and high cholesterol foods you will have better

results.

1. One whole FRESH cactus leave. See picture at

http://www.wegmans.com/kitchen/ingredients/produce/vegetables/cactusle..asp You

can buy them at the Mexican market. Make sure you remove all the thorns. They

usually remove them for you at the store if you ask them since it requires

certain skill to do it. Cut the white part at the bottom (which would be the

petiole on other plants). Also, ask for the fresher leaves so they don't taste

sour.

2. The juice of two medium-sized freshly squeezed oranges.

3. One whole apple. It can be any kind of apple.

4. Four table spoons of oatmeal - uncooked. Use the Old Fashioned Quaker Oats.

Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend them for at least 1 minute

until it is really, really smooth and drink the whole juice first thing in the

mornings. You will be amaized!

Good luck!

The leaves are called nopales, and the fruit are called prickly pear.

This web site has more information regarding the nopales. According to the

article, not only are the nopales good for cholesterol, but seems to have some

effect for diabetes as well.

Here in Southern California, I have a large stand of them in my back yard. I

used them once in salsa and they were very tasty.

Hi,

This sounds much like the Dr. Oz shake, but much more geared toward the

cholesterol issue. I might give it a try for a few months, then get retested in

two months to see how well it works in me. Usually, diet only makes a 10-15%

difference, but perhaps combined with this it might be enough. I like that the

oatmeal isn't cooked. I think that is probably beneficial...IMO.

Thanks!

Hello,

I have a question. Do you have to peel the cactus leaf or anything before

putting it in the blender.? Also do you peel the apple? Do you use a blender or

a juicer for all this?

Thanks.

Hi Betty,

You don't need to peel the apple at all. And for the cactus leaf, you just need

to get rid of the thorns. Use the blender. It seems like a lot of work, but it

works!

Good luck,

More Aguilera
