My Introduction

Hello Gretchen and Everyone!

I've been diagnosed with genetic CMT in the summer of 2007; at the ripe

old age of 47. My neurologist contemplated taking a biopsy, doing the

genetic testing, or get a second opinion from another doctor. In the

first week of January 2008 I will be getting a second opinion.

My parents died in 1996, and for as long as I can remember my mom

complained about her feet hurting and always being cold. Both her and

my arches are sky-high. My sis has high arches too, and always

complained that her feet were " falling " and painful. She had surgery on

one foot with no success; other than continued pains and fat doctor

bills. She swears she would never do that again. My dad's medical

history is a black-hole and another story in and of itself. I don't

have much other history to draw experience from.

I am here to learn more about CMT, how people have adapted, and how to

deal with nerve pain. I am currently loaded up on 9 pills of Lyrica

per day and I don't miss a dose believe me. Lyrica is adequate for me

for now anyway.

I would also like a place to contribute " finds " regarding CMT as I come

across them.

If you can't tell, I get a bit blabby sometimes!

Well folks, that's my introduction. Based on the volume of emails I

zip through each day, I can only take a daily digest and not individual

messages. Relevant subject lines and " reasonable " sender addresses get

my attention best. Of the emails I keep, I am usually a pretty good

responder.

Have a happy and safe new year!

Sincerely,

Steve
