Guest guest
This has been such a fun day. First off, I haven't been sleeping at night for the last week or two. This happens now and then but it is still a pain in the neck. So, with no sleep to speak of, my mother comes in at about 5 in the morning and wants to go down to school at 6 to do some clean up work. She wants to go early because the air conditioner broke Friday and the room would be hot. Well, the room was hot. We stayed about 45 minutes clearing out some stuff and then left. Did some errands on the way back, grocery shopping and such. I got home and put out this next the useless sprinkler thing that mother dear ordered because it looked cute. In the middle of setting that up, the neighbor's dog, which absolutely does not like me starts barking. He sets off all the other dogs in the neighborhood. Have I mentioned that barking dogs are one of the things I hate most? Then the real fun begins. Mother dear goes upstairs to clear some space so I can take out the old air conditioner in her window and put in the new one. Well, the window is stuck. When I get it unstuck and it slides up, the old AC falls out of the window. It lands in the big bush down there and wouldn't you know it, it bounces back toward the house and takes out the basement window! So now most of the bottom sash is bashed out. I dug around in the basement and found some nails, rat wire and strips of wood to seal it off. First I put up some black plastic bags to try to keep out bugs, but its not a good fit but oh well. The rat wire was very hard to put up because the nails were poor quality. The things actually bent try to put them through the wooden strips! Still, I managed to nail it in place. I had to use the wooden strips because the nails were so skinny the would slip out of the holes in the rat wire. The wood will hold it in place. Now I have the fun of being paranoid about someone getting in down there. I've moved the few important things that I could think of upstairs and I have stuff set up to fall over and make noise if someone comes fooling around. I'm going to find my pistol and keep that handy too. Which is another thing: it wasn't where I usually keep it so now I'm wondering where it is. A really fun day and it is only 11 AM.
