Guest guest
This morning I was out watering the plants and doing some weeding and such. While I was watering the new crepe mertyls, which have flowered up very nicely (I'll try to remember to post some pics later), I noticed something flying around. Bees and Bumble Bees are common, but this was big. From around the crepe mertyl I had just watered flew a hummingbird. It flew up to the one I was watering (I turned off the hose since I didn't want to shoot the little bird down if it flew into the spray) and investigated the wet flowers near the bottom. Then, it flew up to just about arm's reach, so close I could hear its wings beating. Mind you I was also standing very still. I was wearing a baseball cap with an insignia on the front, so the hummingbird must have been checking that out. It flew there for a second or two and then went on to the next plant. The little bird stayed there for about 30 seconds and then went on to some other flowers before moving on around the front of the house. It was only then that I went back to watering. I had put out hummingbird feeders in the past but had never seen one. So the next time I'm out I'm going to get another one and put it out where I saw this one.
