Guest guest
, I have " familial " or idiopathic tremor in my hands. The difference between this and Parkinson's was explained by my neurologist at Mayo as follows: Idiopathic (no known cause) tremor is apparent when you pick something up like a coffee mug or something. The weaker your hands are, the more you will notice. Parkinson's tremors are apparent when the hands are at rest and actually can stabilize when you hold on to something. My tremor is controlled quite nicely with Innopran, a form of Inderol, but there are many drugs out there that can have a successful result as well. You don't need to live with your tremor when it can be successfully treated! K.
Guest guest
I have no control over my hands. They go into spasms, drop things. My thumb is useless. One learns to adapt with time. Take a deep breath and relax. Raniolo From: rhionnon555 <rhionnon555@...> Subject: [ ] Shaky hands Date: Monday, February 22, 2010, 5:24 PM Â Hello all, I'm really freaked out! I just finished making dinner, sat down at the computer and my right hand (or more specifically, my ring finger and pinkie) started shaking! Like my fingers had a mind of their own - they were bobbing up and down violently. I can't control them! As soon as I stood up, it lessened (did not stop). If I bend my wrist the shaking starts again. I've eaten a sugar cookie, thinking it might be low blood sugar (but I'm not diabetic) - but I don't know what to do. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this an RA thing, or something else? Thanks, rhiannon
Guest guest
Hi, rhiannon. Try not to worry, but do mention this episode to your rheumatologist. It could be many things. Because the shaking started again when you bent your wrist, that makes me think it could be the compression of a nerve. Maybe not a carpal tunnel situation (the little finger is usually not involved), but it could be something along those lines. Possibly the ulnar nerve. It could very well be temporary. Were you doing a lot of chopping or straining of your arm, elbow, or hand when you were preparing dinner? http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00069 Not an MD On Mon, Feb 22, 2010 at 4:24 PM, rhionnon555 <rhionnon555@...> wrote: > Hello all, > > I'm really freaked out! > I just finished making dinner, sat down at the computer and my right hand (or more specifically, my ring finger and pinkie) started shaking!
