Guest guest
I hope everyone has had the opportunity to read the findings of scientists easing symptoms of muscular dystorphy in mice by injecting them with modified stem cells from human patients. " The study involved not only using stem cells, but also modifying those cells to affect how they read their DNA, " according to the article. The study is in the December issue of Cell Stem Cell by scientists at the U of Milan, Italy. " The work is 'a nice demonstration of a lot of cutting-edge techniques used together and effectively,' said Sharon Hesterlee of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which was not involved with the study. Scientists now must improve the technique and test the approach in larger animals, she said. " On the Net: Cell Stem Cell: http://www.cellstemcell.com Muscular Dystrophy Association: http://www.mda.org I know in time there will be a human who will benefit from this research. For all of us who have family/friends with CMT, that day cannot come soon enough. Gail
