I soak the seeds over night and then place them in on the medium in the trays.

Then cover with just a touch more of soil. You do not want to make these too

full, because the seeds push up the soil and will spill it all over your

kitchen.

Yes.

I use all kinds of good plastic trays. When I go to a restaurant that serves

salad in little plastic dishes, I always ask if they have a lid for it.

I never cover the containers. i use the lids as saucers. Keep a spray bottle of

water nearby and give the top of the soil a mist now and then to keep it from

drying out and you're good to go.

How big are they when you take them out and put them in the garden?  Do you use

ground or do you put in containers outside?

Carolyn, I do not plant them in the garden. When they get about three inches, I

take kitchen shears and cut them off at the soil line and eat them.

Why not just let them grow as sprouts until they are 3 " in the sprouter?  Main

thing I've sprouted is alfalfa and someitmes mung beans and they did grow a bit

long.  Do they grow better in the mixture?
