Guest guest
In my senior year of high school during the winter, we were out at retreat formation. This was a military high school and retreat was the formation where we brought down the flag in the evening. The companies had just reached their positions when a meteor streaked overhead. It came from almost directly overhead and off to the west at a very steep, downward angle. At its lowest, the streak of light was about at thick as a pencil held out at arm's length. It was so bright it was almost like daylight for about half a second. I was lucky enough to have been looking at just the right spot in the sky to actually see the entire thing, from the moment it hit the atmosphere until it burned out.
