We got it from my mother's side although she showed no signs of it and wore high heals into her older years. We did notice that her father (he died when I was an infant) had it from old family photos where we could see his hands were affected and mom said he always walked funny but back then, as long as you walked you didn't go to the Dr. I guess it helps to have family members with the same thing.
