Guest guest
The health magazine I get from UC Berkeley has said for years to use d-alpha not dl-alpha. All the studies that say Vitamin E doesn't work use dl-alpha; I don't think they have studied natural. The latest is that we should use mixed, which includes among others gamma-E. With each more natural suggestion the price goes up, what a surprise. Elinor
Guest guest
Elinor, This is what I have taken for years that I believe has helped so much. If I ever go on " Survivor " Vitamin E is the one luxury item I would take! There have been 2 studies that have been done on Vitamin E and CMT. 1) GM, Szigeti K, Snipes GJ, CA, Lupski JR. Molecular mechanisms, diagnosis, and rational approaches to management of and therapy for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and related peripheral neuropathies.J Investig Med. 2003 Sep;51(5):261-83. 2) LL, O'Dougherty MM, FS, Bobulski RJ, Horrocks LA. Dietary essential fatty acids, vitamin E, and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Neurology 1986 Sep;36(9):1200-5. I think the abstracts are in our Files. If not, let me know and I'll repost. Then you may want the entire article and your local librarian can get it for you I'm sure. Gretchen Gretchen
