Guest guest
Hi Liz, I got married last April and this was one of my main concerns. On Ebay I managed to get (and since got a few other pairs) some 'trainers' called Tetsuyu. They are flat with 3 criss cross elastics across the foot, which holds in AFOss if you use them. They come in white with blue elastic, white with pink elastic and balck with grey elastic. I bought the hite/blue and sprayed them in ivory, they used ivory coloured fabric paint to paint the elastic! I felt as if I had 'ladies feet again'. I have always got them from new and they are leather and I have paid around £14.99. Good luck with the wedding and enjoy!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Liz, Take a look at the Capezio's Dance shoes, either a ballet slipper, or another one like a Tap shoe, or jane - they are nice looking too - some have straps, ties, etc. Comfortable too. Here's one site I know of, there are others I'm sure. http://www.discountdance.com/spframe_set.php3? q=capezio+shoes & camp=G_capezio_shoes & gclid=CNzQnMbhoJECFQfpYAod53yaCA Your wedding plans sound so beautiful and what a perfect time of year! All the best, Gretchen
Guest guest
Hi Liz, While I have not posted before I NEEDED to chime in. I am 42 yrs old and was diagnosed when I was about 12 yrs old. I have had the typical shoe problems my whole life and my wedding day was also a concern for me. I opted to wear keds leather sneakers but after looking online...I decorated them with beautiful beads and lace (which I got at Michale's craft store and glued on). They looked great and I got so many compliments. I was comfortable and had great time. My photographer even took a picture for our album the looked so cool. Please e-mail me at debiwish@... if you would like to see a picture. Good luck and congrats! Deborah
Guest guest
When I got married I had a problem with my foot due to the nerve biopsy. My mother in law bought me these sneakers that were all sparkly. They were the cutest thing and could even dance in them! They were very comfortable and everyone got such a kick out of them. Felt a little like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz!! Teri
Guest guest
Hi Liz, I too have the shoe problem. I have worn nothing really but Birkenstocks for the last 15 years. I get them on line as I find many styles that are not available in stores. QVC and HSN have some really " cute " styles. Some are under the Betula or Birkie name. They are all the same as long as they have the Birkinstock foot bed. I find the Birkies or the Betulas to be a little cheaper as they use faux leather but they wear the same. I order a half size down they fit me perfectly with my hammer toes. I can not purchase the elastic ones as I need to be able to adjust the straps. I even wear the ones without straps as the food bed and heel cup my foot in, and as a very big bonus, it keeps my ankles straight and secure. They allow me to walk on uneven ground without falling over as they are very stable. I have painted the rubber and cork part of the sole to match the top and I have even had a shoe repair person add a strap. There are some " cute " sandle type that would look lovely while giving you the security of enjoying this very special upcoming day. Check them out and most of all, enjoy your wonderful day and may the Lord bless your new life!!!! Candy

Guest guest
Liz, My daughter was married last July. I wore a long pink beautiful gown. I wear AFOs, so not a lot of choices there! But I got a new pair of white New Balance (leather) shoes, and my husband painted them to match the dress. (I googled " Leather Shoe Paint " to come up with some options on where I could order the paint from. It was not expensive at all). I dyed the shoe laces. He also spray painted my cane to match my gown. Everyone said I was one of the most beautiful mothers or the bride they had ever seen! Do you thnk it could have been the shoes? Hope this suggestion may help you! K.
Guest guest
Thanks guys! These are some great ideas! I'm most comfortable in my riding boots and my Mom suggested that I could wear those, but I feel like I should go with something a little less horse-smelling. Guest guest
Hi Liz, I just bought some Sketchers. I have 3 pairs. They come in Black or Ivory or Pewter. They are flat and have a strap that crosses your foot. I got them on Zappos.com. That is a great website. Free shipping and free returns. Go on the website and put in Sketchers in the search box. You will love them. I have 2 AFOs and they fit great. They even come in wide and extra wide. Good Luck and Congratulations!! Bobbie
Guest guest
Hi Liz: got married last October and I wore ballerina flats with beautiful sequins and lace on them; I actually bought them online but I saw the add for them in one of the bridal magazines. They were advertised as shoes to wear to relax your feet during the reception but they went very well with my fancy princess type wedding dress and worked just as well for the ceremony; they were also reasonably priced. I can't walk in a heel more than a half inch; these were actually flat but VERY comfortable and VERY dressy!! I'd suggest looking in the bridal magazines and seeing if you can find something similar. Good luck! Marti
Guest guest
Liz, Go to endless.com and you can search shoes by color and heel height. I did a search for you and I think you will find some that will work. But you know your case the best, so have a look for yourself. Let me know what you decide on as I hope to have this problem myself in the next year or two! Congratulations on your marriage! Best regards,

Guest guest
Congratulations. I'm very happy for you, Liz! I can't wear any heel either. When I got married a few years ago, I wore ballet-type flats. I actually bought three different kinds of shoes to try in advance, including true Capezio ballet slippers. I didn't like the 'real' ballet slippers, since they didn't give me enough support. I went with the fake 'ballet' slipper that was offered by 's Bridal, because the shoe was stiffer and had a supportive bottom. http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=1073 & prodgroup=168#reviews At the time, they offered a version of this shoe that had a satin ribbon ankle strap. I didn't see it on their site now, but you could easily sew something in. The ribbon was long, starting at the back of the shoe, wrapped around my ankle and calf and then tied in the front, like a ballet slipper. In addition, I sewed in elastic straps myself that went across the top of the foot, two pieces criss-crossed for support. By doing it myself, I was able to get it as tight as needed. I had no problems walking in them through the wedding & reception, including some dancing. The shoe was so strongly tied on to my foot, I didn't have any issues with slippage either. The last thing I wanted was to have my shoes slipping off as I walked down the aisle! Hope that helps. Please feel free to share how things go with us later. Guest guest
Congrats Liz on the wedding! My sister is getting (re-)married this summer! When is your wedding? Dawn
Guest guest
I had the same troubles with wedding shoes. I ended up with Danskos which worked out perfectly. The ballet flats were also an option, but the Danskos had more support. Good luck! Lenka
