Guest guest
Myrna, I know from talking to my doctor people with CMT have weakness on both sides. Have you had an MRI done?
Guest guest
Myrna, Possibly. But we can't diagnose you here. Your neurologist should do an EMG/NCV, maybe a skin biopsy, if you haven't had that already, and from there, perhaps look into the DNA testings from www.athenadiagnostics.com There are about 21 types of CMT that can be tested for now through a DNA sample (blood test) Gretchen
Guest guest
Myrna, I could understand how the high arches are like people with CMT and why your doctor might suggest it. But, the foot drop and hand problems tend to be in both sides it seems for most people. The testing is a bit painful but to put your mind at ease, it might be worth it. My opinion. Guest guest
Dawn and others, To respond to several of your questions. I have had MRI's done, several looking for MS. I have had several EMG's which do show some decline each time I have them. It's been two years since I had any testing except blood work. Never had a biopsy and it's been a year since I saw the Neurologist at all. I have an appt. with him in a couple weeks. The pain in my foot has gotten so much worse. I don't think it's plantar fascilitis because it's different. Thanks for letting me vent. I know you all can just give advice and tell me about your journey with CMT and that's exactly what I'm looking for. Myrna
Guest guest
Myrna, First of all, I'm not a Dr., but I can share my symptoms. If you are also experiencing warmth and swelling, it could be a Charcot joint. Hope not, best of luck. P.
