Guest guest
Suzanne, Try howtosaveseeds.com ew sustainable sprouting Hi folks, I'm Suzanne, North Carolina, and somewhat new to sprouting. Been doing it on and off for a few years. Going to try drying and grinding for crackers and breads and other dishes, as well as snacking and eating raw. My question is, I'm trying to do some research on sustainable sprouting. That is, growing the plants, letting them bolt, and collecting seeds. I belong to several prep gropus and I'm writing a how-to book for beginners on getting started with prepping and survival all the way to sustenance, and devoting quite a bit on how sprouting can help keep nutrition levels up, that the body will need under stress. Does anyone grow their own sustainable seed? Not just sprout their own seed, but let the plants go to seed.. Ever tried to do research on a topic by looking for the words 'seeds' or 'harvesting' when almost every post has those words in it, lol.. So sorry if this is a redundant topic, its just not easy to research. Happy sprouting Suzanne

Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, This is a good book on saving seed. I am not sure how much it covers as far as seeds we use for sprouting. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks & field-keywo\ rds=Seed+to+Seed & x=0 & y=0 On Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 8:17 AM, suzanne36_lkn wrote: > Hi folks, I'm Suzanne, North Carolina, and somewhat new to sprouting. > Been doing it on and off for a few years. Guest guest
Hello, Suzanne, welcome! What part of NC are you in? I am in the Western mountains of NC. I do save my own seed, and grow my own sunflowers and leafy greens to have seeds for micro green gardening as well as sprouting. The process can be quite involved, and not something that is easily taught, but can be done. I plant specific plants for the sole purpose of allowing them to bolt to seed, but you must have a good seed source to start with, and be able to ensure that it doesn't get cross pollinated...which means a very controlled indoor growing environment. I use hydroponic and aeroponic methods inside. I am happy to answer any questions, but again, it isn't something too easily taught. > > > Hi folks, I'm Suzanne, North Carolina, and somewhat new to sprouting. > > Been doing it on and off for a few years.
