Hi Jeff,

I'm 44, was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome last summer and now

see a Pain Management Specialist. He's helped me understand pain, including the

importance of calming the nerves with maintenance medication and then addressing

breakthrough pain immediately.

I had been taking Voltaren & Neurontin, which wasn't controlling the pain. He

added low dose Methadone for maintenance and Vicodin for breakthrough pain. The

Methadone has significantly improved my quality of life. It does carry risk of

side effects, which should be discussed with the doctor, but for me it has been

worth it.
