Guest guest
I just bought the handy pantry 3 sprout trays -(sprout garden) both products are the same. They stack nicely - the first go around I only put a small amount of brocolli seeds which didnt produce much. I am new to sprouting. does anyone have experience using the trays with the covers from sprout master? Which is better?? you can see them at amazon... Sprout Garden 3 Tray Family Sprouting Kit vs Handy Pantry Sprout Garden Does anyone know the difference between the Sprout Garden 3 Tray Family Sprouting Kit and the Handy Pantry Sprout Garden? I have a gift card from Amazon and can't decided between the two. I have been sprouting off and on for about 3 years now using mason jars and sprout bags but would like to clear up some counter space with a garden tray idea. Thanks! Guest guest
I think mine is a 4 tray unit. It doesn't have as much drainage. I sometimes prop it on an edge to get it to drain out better. I tried to rinse them 2 times a day, every 12 hours, but that didn't work. I tried a batch with rinsing them every evening before bed and that worked well. I have only done alfalfa sprouts and now 4 seed salad greens (radish, broccoli, alfalfa, clover) and it is quite tasty and you can really identify the radish. I am watching them and want to be sure they are okay. I opened them up a bit to the sun to turn green but then I put an empty tray on top and don't use the cover as I want the air circulation. There are others who have a lot more experience than I do. There are also lots of videos on Youtube with sprouting. Check it out as photos help. Good luck with your sprouting. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2012 2:13 PM Subject: RE: Sprout Garden 3 Tray Family Sprouting Kit vs Handy Pantry Sprout Garden  I just bought the handy pantry 3 sprout trays -(sprout garden) both products are the same. Guest guest
I think the Handy Pantry is what I got and it doesn't have that little plug or extra drain in the middle but it just has spaces around the outer edge in order to drain. I don't know about the Sprout Garden. I think mine is a Vitorio or something like like. It doesn't work as well as the green one I had years ago but it had that extra little plug in there to drain more.  Wait a bit until you check up on them though. It will depend on what you want to plant too. Talk to Melodie or Ed. There are some others too who do a lot of sprouting and know more. Evidently plain jars with wire lid inserts sounds like they work really well too.
