Guest guest
Hi.. Although I have no pain (neuropathic?) whatsoever when I had my yearly MDA clinic appointment last May & it was suggested that a hospital bed may benefit me in other ways. I was hesitant as I thought they were ugly. I finally got one & it does not look like a hospital bed at all. It is full size & full size bedding fits. The head & feet go up & down to alleviate any pain on my back or whatever. Maybe this is something that may help you? Guest guest
Hi Teri, It sounds like your pain is worse when there is pressure on them. Perhaps removing some of the pressure or putting some kind of padding between your feet and the sheets might help. Some things to try... - Extra thick socks, but not too tight (see diabetic products) http://www.docortho.com/braces-and-supports/diabetic-products/diabetic-socks-pre\ ssure-relieving.html - Bracing (like for ankle injuries) http://www.braceup.com/tulis/cheetahs_tulis.htm - Foot boots/pillows (like for pressure sore injuries) http://www.futuremed.ca/injury.asp#11 Sheepskin is a common product used to avoid pressure injury. Perhaps just a piece of sheepskin might work. I'm sorry you are having such frustration. I can relate completely to your story about dropping the bowl. I dropped a bottle of water last month and it went everywhere. I was just holding it, like always, and then poof...it was on the floor. It was quite startling and shook me up for a bit. I frequently feel a sensation in my hands that things are heavy or might just fall, so I use both hands when I can, knowing now that things could just slip anytime. Hope this helps. Others may have other ideas or suggestions for products that they've already tried.
Guest guest
Hi Kerry and , Thank you both for replying. It means a lot to me. Didn't give the pressure thing a thought. I have tried one of the little squishy pillows and that does seem to help. Thanks for the idea about the bed too. I have been wanting to get a new mattress but considering the price it worries me that it will not work out and then we are out all of that money. Thank you also for the sites. Still trying to figure out if I forgot I was holding the bowl or what happened!!! Crazy!! Found more glass that I missed....thank goodness it was where no one would step on it!!! Oh, one more thing. I forget to mention that I get the same pain in my ears (the outer part) when I am sleeping on my side. Have had that for a few years. Just thought I was weird!!!
