Guest guest
I am having shoulder weakness greater on the right, and shoulder pain when I lift things. The head of my humerus sort of moves forward, and I have to push it back. Also I am having increased foot drop in both feet but much worse in the right. It seems many on the board have had shoulder issues, and I am wondering for how many there was a neck problem, a rotator cuff tear, or is it just an exacerbation. I find that my doctor does not want to dig in and find out if there is a reparable problem -- just try PT, and even " it's NOT broken! " I am awating my appointment with an MDA neurologist at a large Neurology Center near me. They seem to have everything in house-- I am very excited. I did have an accident back in the fall. I sometimes take CMT for granted when keeping up with my husband and young sons. My husband took us tubing on a river near us for our anniversary. Well, I did this when I was younger, but not on this particular river. And that was pre children. I got anxious, and lost my tube, and was caught in a swell of the river just before a rapid (that I couldn't see, only heard because it was around the bend.) My husband brought me my tube back, but the water was so deep, I could not get on it properly. (He said I shouldn't wait for helicopters!) Long story short, I tried to jump forward onto the tube which left me hanging with my shoulders up high and my shins beating against the rocks. I just cried because it hurt and I knew it was going to come back to haunt me in a few months. It seems that I just dont know when I have injured myself until several months later when the tightness or weakness starts. Does anyone see a doctor right away when you have had a bad fall. My doctor says " but this happened months ago, right? " And I explain that it was manageable as an acute injury, but now that stiffness and weakness have started, it isnt. I guess my question is have many had shoulder weakness as a presentation of CMT weakness? Thanks, Mandy
