Knowing what I know now I would definitely not allow vitamin K. I understand that it contains mercury. Ask yourself if you would ingest mercury and then breast feed? Also thee is research around proving that babys actually do not need vitamin K. In regards to caesarian, unless absolutely necessary, I wouldn't have one. It is my understanding that the movement through the birth canal plays a large part in the alignment of skull plates, which is necessary for development. There are people around that can massage your stomach and turn the baby around before birth. If you do have a caesarian I would recommend going to a sacriocranial person who can manipulate the plates into place, but I would be very careful who I went to, and only take word of mouth recommendation from people who have had work done on new-borns. (that was the best I could do) Anyway - we took the little guy to a Chiropractor at around 2 or 3 months, he had a neck that was badly out and his hips (the hips are well known to be out of place in breech babies) Good luck - I hope the little one turns!! Guest guest
Thanks for the responses so far, but I think my main question is more toward the vitamin K shot and the eye ointment. Hubby and I see our chiropractor regualarily (as will our little one) and with regards to mercury being in the vitamin K shot...I didn't know about that, and of course I wouldn't be ingesting mercury then bf'ing...I was only looking for some direction, not a lecture! Guest guest
My apologies if my response came out as a lecture. It was completely unintentional. I'm glad that you are getting some feedback to help with your decision. I have a large amount of information on vitamin K, but will have to go through it as there is just too much to post. I will get back to you on this soon. Guest guest
are you using a midwife or doctor? the eye drops are 'mandatory' in Ontario, however, you may be able to convince a midwife to 'miss' when she puts them in the baby's eyes vit k is not required; make sure you tell your dr or midwife that you don't want it. they will give you a little 'why vit k is necessary' speech. just say no thanks. btw, homeopathy can turn a breech baby Kathy in Ontario > Hi everyone, > > It's me the one who rarely posts! Guest guest
Is this something that is peculiar to North America? I have never heard of this before in the UK, and it seems a pretty drastic thing to do - almost as bad as giving a Hep B shot " just in case " . Surely mum will know if she is high risk? Blimey, if a medic tried that with me s/he'd get more than a flea in the ear! What a cheek! This is almost as bad as telling a mother who is HIV+ not to breastfeed...whatever next? Guest guest
My dad does and I had infantile when I was an infant that self-resolved. Guest guest
, I know this is a while ago but I would be very interested in your self-resolving curve. I had posted a while back that even Mehta talks about a self-resolving curve and that my son falls into that category of RVAD under 20 but I have never spoke with anyone that had actually ever experienced this. Do you know how old you were when it began to decrease and how high your cobb angle ever got? If not that's alright - I am just trying to learn all sides before we go get our second opinion. Thanks! > Hello Everyone, > > I have scoliosis myself which was adolescent onset and I did have a thoracic lumbar spinal fusion at age 13 & my cousin who is now in her 30's had infantile which progressed to the point of fusion by the age of 10. Guest guest
I have mild scoliosis--don't know the degree of my curve. It was discovered during the routine school check in gym class. It was watched but never braced. Guest guest
Well, we found out in October that my FIL has scoliosis. Don't know what type or for how long he has had it, and doubt we will. I should ask my dr if there was anything on the MRI that found my bulging disc a few years back. kelly shearer <kellyshearer77@...> wrote: Hello Everyone, I have scoliosis myself which was adolescent onset and I did have a thoracic lumbar spinal fusion at age 13 & my cousin who is now in her 30's had infantile which progressed to the point of fusion by the age of 10. Guest guest
Since we all are in the same vote in this group, in having one way or another on having some kind of form of CMT or knowing someone who has it. How have you better yourselves after knowing you have CMT and/or some of its deformities. For example, how has it affect your employment, family, yourself, friends. Just curious on if you are able to do better or worse? Take care all and have the greatest day you can possible.
