Guest guest
When I went to my neurologist a few months ago he had an intern in with him and he was explaining CMT and what I was showing. He mentioned the muscle wasting at the bottom of my legs and said that I had foot drop. I was surprised at this since I still have an arch. When I stand barefoot it looks " like the arch is not as high but when (yes I have done this) I step in water then make a foot print it seems like it is like it should be. So, my question is, could he of been mistaken or is there a process to the foot drop? Teri
Guest guest
Teri, As it was explained to me by a physician, the nerves that do work innervate the muscles that pull the foot downward. The nerves that don't work do not pull the foot outward. This is the case during the growth and development of the foot so that the foot grows inward forming the arch, many times higher than a normal arch. Afterwards, the foot is still pulling inward so that a high arch and a foot drop do go together. Dawn P.S. I have a very high arch and a serious foot drop that is not cured without an ankle support.
