Guest guest
Hi everyone, I ran into a lady who has a son with a rare form of Muscular dystrophy. She has been taking her son to a place that treats children with neurological disorders through several different kinds of therapy. It is a very unique place and there are only like 6 other clinics like this in the country. insurance doesn't cover it. My question is...is CMT a neurological disorder like cerebral palsey, down syndrome, ect? I always thought it was a neuromuscular disorder. The lady I met with has never seen anyone there with CMT but they have treated children with a range of neurological disorders. The theory is that through doing different kinds of movements related to brain development it opens new neural pathways in the brain that help the body move and gain new motor skills that they hadn't acquired. What do you think? They also do warm water physical therapy and other physical therapy. It is a not for profit place opened 40 years ago by two mothers who had special needs children. They had to drive to Pittsburg or Philadelphia to a special place called " the Center for Maximizing Human Potential " or something like that. My husband is skeptical about it helping Addie but this mom claims this place helped her son with Muscular dystrophy much more than regular physical therapy did. Anyways, any opinions are welcome. Thanks Amelia
