Guest guest
When I see where a mom has had her kid at 5 different drs in 6 years,it shoots up a big red flag to me. It sure sounds like Dr shopping, i.e. going from dr to dr till you find one who will just agree with the the course of treatment you have decided is right for your child. Most drs hate patients and parents who research and research online their diagnosis and what needs to be done. You need to trust your dr. He is the one who has studied for many years to be a dr and sees patients day in and day out. You need to find a dr you like and stay with him so he can map a course of treatment for your child. CMT is different from patient to patient. Most people are able to lead fairly normal lives with CMT. A MDA dr told me that most patients with CMT actually live longer than normal lives. It is not fatal. I have a friend who played hs sports wearing his AFOs. I know another guy who was the manager on his hs football team. The thing to do is to let your kid be a kid. Let him or her enjoy doing what they can do. Bob
Guest guest
I am very realistic. But I also think we cannot stop having hope. You can help your body cope with CMT, and even fight some of the symptoms, if you have a positive attitude. Besides, that doctor could have said that he wanted to see how worse my son is getting in a year in private, not in front of my son. -
