Guest guest
, Thanks for the encouragement. We are really excited and impatient for the birth. I hope that we will be good parents. Right now parenting is all theory because he will be our first. I think most people do what they think is best for their kids and I'm glad that my parents were after the " let the kid tough it out " trend. Eventually because of illness or old age I think most people shed the tough it out approach to illness & learn to respect their bodies and limitations & they probably develop a higher sensitivity to illness in others. When I turned 30 my CMT got really bad I was falling and exhausted, the bottoms of my feet were in intense pain. I mourned the (temporary) loss of independence and the sense of control that I had over my body. I stopped working got leg braces and slowed down - without any other options. I changed careers and tried to manage stress better. Six years later I have removed the leg part of my braces and feel much healthier than when I was at 30. My friend Helen is in her mid 90's and attributes her long life and current good health to the many naps ( whole days to weeks) that she had to take b/c of migraine and digestive problems. I am rambling, but I think what I want to say is that as a mom you can't take away your kids diagnosis, but as crazy as it sounds CMT might not be the worst thing. And, he might find his life take some interesting turns as a result of it. He might be more prepared for other things. Take care, Chris
Guest guest
Geri, Thank you! It is a whole new journey & we are excited. We will probably fall more as parents that I fell before braces, but I hope that he will feel loved and will enjoy life. Well wishes, Chris
