No, stroke sounds worse. But if there is a way to avoid CH, CSA or MCI

without the so-called " side effects, " I will doggedly push the docs to

help me find it. Luckily I do not have the effects mentioned about

atenolol, but a couple people in here seem to have some pretty bad

discomfort. I was just told to up my does for a few days while I

withdraw from Catpres patch, so I was just wondering.

An honest man! I feel like Diogenes, who can now put down his lamp and

have a fish filet with that double cheeseburger.

Good lord, that is what, about 300 pounds of sodium?

dietary center.

You must not hear this talk as much as I, and probably don't consume

Micky D's as much, so don't feel bad. Mickey adds the " mouse "

incompetence connotation, so I am happy to leave out the " e. " The food

is bad enough.

  • 3 years later...

Atenolol made me depressed and didn't control my blood pressure.

Diovan has been good for me, though most insurance plans don't like it as there

isn't a generic available yet.

Thank you so much for getting back to me!

Went to the ER and ended up in the hospital for a few days.

Gave me meds that are? did a number on me...telling them of CMT again fell on

deaf ears!

I'.m so sick right now from the meds! At a loss of what to do......

Thanks Geri

Geri,

I don't have high blood pressure but this is a list of side effects and some

natural ways to lower blood pressure.

Side effects include:

indigestion, constipation

dry mouth

dizziness or faintness (especially cases of orthostatic hypotension)

cold extremities

hair loss

problems with sexual function

runny/blocked nose

depression

confusion

difficulty sleeping, nightmares

fatigue, weakness or lack of energy

These side effects may or may not be experienced, but if they are, you should

notify your doctor.

More serious side effects can include:

hallucinations

low blood pressure (hypotension)

skin reactions, eg. rash, hives, flaking of skin, worsening of psoriasis

sensation of 'pins and needles' hands or feet

irritated eyes, visual disturbances

difficulty hearing

difficulty speaking

unsteadiness when walking

Serious side effects may require urgent medical attention. Some of these side

effects are rare and others (not mentioned in the above list) can occur in some

people.

More info on it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atenolol

There is some evidence that the supplement CoQ10 may help to reduce high blood

pressure. Garlic, Hawthorn herb, fish oil, folic acid, the DASH diet,

calcium, magnesium,potassium, autogenic training, biofeedback,yoga,

aerobics, and Ayurvedic medicine. More info at
