Re: Autism Speaks Recognized by United Nations

The UN really isn't even that dignified. Since the beginning, the UN has primarily been an engine to stifle Western opposition to Russian and other communist countries advances. Beyond that, the UN has been an ATM for corrupt regimes in the Third World to gobble up money that vanishes into the leader's secret bank accounts and food and development aid is stolen for those same leaders and their cronies. The UN has also devoted a great deal of energy into bashing the US since its inception.

That they like Autism Speaks shouldn't be a surprise. It is a fellow corrupt organization. Autism Speaks has gobbled up most of the Autism research groups, just like the UN wants to gobble up all the nations in a world government.

There is no real way to tell just how many autistics Autism Speaks actually can claim to represent. That is really immaterial, however, since they control so much and have so much PR. It is a matter of perception, they claim that they do and they are in everyone's face, so it is hard to deny them.

PS: Sorry for the attitude. I've been following this bailout nonsense with the banks and the car companies and now developers have their hands out. Comparing it to history and seeing how corrupt this whole mess is is driving me nuts.

I'm unsurprised to be honest. The UN hasn't been an organization to help people for quite some time. It's has acted more on business interests or on the basis of political gain for one country or another for as long as I can remember.--MikeIn the end the journey only matters if you've helped someone along the way.One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. crumbs.

It's a business empire, though. It mentions here

http://autism.about.com/b/2007/06/05/james-mulvaney-blogs-about-autism-

speaks-do-you-agree.htm

" it has also aquired and incorporated almost every significant autism

research foundation in the United States. " That is what gets you UN

recognition, even if there is well-organised opposition. Whose votes

is the UN accountable to for its choices of NGOs?

Yep. They're the Borg of the Autism community.

Extremely :-( what about the 'Autism Speaks doesn't speak for me'

Yep. They didn't seem to even make a big fuss when Myanmar seized

the shipments to the cyclone victims:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/10/world/asia/10myanmar.html

And those people (similar to the Katrina victims in the US) still are

in need of more help:

Yep. Like I said - Borg. Unfortunately the only way to remove such

entities is to choke them off from their funding (tough to do) or to

poison them from the inside (almost impossible and unethical in my

opinion).

What they need is an exposé done on them that shows all the internal

workings and how much goes two whom. Unfortunately they're large

enough that would just cut off one head of the hydra so to speak.

Bailout nonsense is correct - they should be bailing out the people

in debt, shackling the business/government people who created this

mess, then doing a " reverse midas " on all these golden parachutes.

On top of all that a lot of the safeguards for consumers/people that

were gutted by these Suits need to be put back in place. They're

trying to do that with some of the credit card stuff now but it's not

being retroacted to current loans and thus is not nearly as useful as

it could be.

Perhaps we will see an Ari Ne'eman campaign to the United Nations

addressing this situation?

so this is Christmas, To me this is just another example of people

making themselves feel better by saying; see we care about the poor

unfortunates, without caring, or thinking. This is not a thoughtful

heartfelt move. It is grandstanding, chestbeating, look at me

stuff. Look I am good Look I am powerful and look at me I can

subjugate you.

Just more junk

The UN (and the foreign policy of many nations, especially including the US) in recent years has dismayed me, particularly with the Security Council. It gets really frustrating when people start saying, " Oh, sorry, perhaps millions have been killed, but that isn't a genocide... " , " it's not in the national interest " , or other such fiction that happens to be politic at the moment. " Oh, sorry... It's horrible, but they are selling oil half price, so we'll veto anything condemning them! " (China and Russia).
