Guest guest
Hi Amy, I don't have it, never did before or after surgery, but here's some info http://orthopedics.about.com/od/footankle/a/archpain.htm http://www.emedicinehealth.com/arch_pain/article_em.htm If after icing it and rest, it doesn't go away, get it checked out by an orthopedist, maybe orthotics and some PT will help. Guest guest
Amy, The way you describe it it sounds like plantar fasciitis, which is inflamation of the connective tissue (fascia)that you feel right at the arch. That has been an ongoing thing in my family for many of us. You should go get it checked out though, because you may have unknowingly fractured something and waiting to see if it gets worse may be bad if that's the case. Guest guest
Amy, That is exactly how my problems started and what eventually led to my CMT diagnosis (5 months after the fact). Initial X-rays did not reveal any breaks, but the bones in my hindfoot were indeed fractured and deterioring. I was misdiagonsed with plantar faciatis which prolonged the injury. My pain began in August, a bone scan of my foot in January revealed damage and finally I got to a good orth Dr. who diagnosed a Charcot joint. I was in a walking cast for 7 months. My joint never did become stable, I had a bad flareup the end of Feb where I could not walk for 2 days. I am now waiting on a surgery date for a fusion. Oh, and I have started having arch pain in my other foot ........... The moral of this story is, don't wait, don't let yourself be jerked around. Your advantage is that you know you have CMT and that foot problems are common. Get this taken care of NOW. Best wishes. P.
