Guest guest
Hello everyone My name is . I have been a member of the group for almost a year. It was last March I was diagnosed with CMT by my neurologist. I also have a brother and sister with CMT. We all walk a little funny. I have been encouraged by the posts this past year, and I guess I was a little afraid of posting myself. I am a nurse by trade and was working until last May when I got to where I could hardly get around. My walking became very difficult, and I also became extremely weak and tired. My exhaustion continues with me today I sleep 10-12 hours a day, and it has kept me from working. When I went to the Dr for a temporary handicap sticker so I could shop for Christmas. My Dr said sure no problem, and filled out my papers as permanent not temporary. This hurt me more than I could explain. I think I wanted him to say it will get better and you won't walk funny anymore, but that did not happen. I have found my pain sensations show a deficit, and when my feet get cold I struggle with walking even more. I also have had episodes of increased symptoms with each major stress in my life. My baby is going to graduate this year from High School, and I am not looking forward to what it will do to my body. I just tell everyone I am much slower but sill the same. Sorry I've rambled.
