Guest guest
Hi everyone! I am new to this forun and in fact to any forum. I am 62 years old and was diagnosed with CMT in 1992. I am an RN (retired now). I ended up leaving nursing because I could no longer tolerate being on my feet for 8 hours. My legs are typical CMT " stork legs " with muscle atrophy , hammer toes and high instep. I also have some arm and hand involvment. I have type 1A with a great deal of muscle weakness. I manage fairly well at home and use a cane outside to help with balance. Typically, my physicians did not know anything or very little about CMT and I have had to educate them. I did go to the CMT clinic at Wayne State in Detroit last June. It was a joy to be where CMT is understood, to have input on managing now and a resource for the future. I am hoping my involvement with this forum will bring me support, information, and contact with other people with CMT. I also hope I can be of some help to some of you. I look foreward to being involved. Rosemary
