Tucson woman sentenced after failing to protect autistic boy

Reported by: Associated Press

Last Update: 7:48 am

A Tucson woman has been sentenced to prison for failing to protect a

young autistic boy from constant child abuse by his mother.

28-year-old Flower Tompson was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in

prison on one count of felony child abuse for failing to stop the

constant abuse of 5-year-old , who died March 21,

2007 at a Tucson hospital.

Tompson had been living with the boy, his mother and another man.

An autopsy showed the boy died of multiple skull fractures, which led

to bleeding in the brain and respiratory arrest.

Pima County Superior Court Judge Campoy said Tompson and the

boy's mother, Diane Marsh are responsible for killing the boy.

Marsh is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday after a jury convicted

her of negligent homicide and four counts of child abuse.
