Gretchen, thanks for directing me to the archives. I found a bunch of articles &

studies about marijuana, both pro & con, which I've printed out, & I'll take

them with me tomorrow when I see my neuro. I want to carefully consider all the

alternatives for pain control before I make a decision.

If my doc says marijuana is worth a try, I'll consider it, it might have fewer

side effects than what I've been taking. I don't plan to smoke it, because I

have asthma & want to be kind to my lungs.

Brownies, anyone?

Ruth

Be kind. Everyone you meet is struggling with something.

Hi Ruth;

I forgot to tell you that I do not smoke the marijuana,I do

not like the smell of it in the house. I steep it in hot water for a

half hour then I reheat it and put a nice green tea bag it and drink

it. A friend of mine just told me lately that she steaps the leaves in

hot milk and drinks it that way or with hot chocolate. She says the

marijuana sticks to the fat in the milk so it is a lot stronger.

Buuuuut the brownies do sound better ;o)

Hello Ruth,

You are lucky you are able to even experiment with medical marijuana -

MMJ. Here in the progressive state of Indiana....well, I think I will

see pigs fly before MMJ is legalized. Anyway....everywhere I read

(except DEA site - go figure) I hear that MMJ helps with pain relief.

I don't know if these 3 sites might post or not, but you can search

for The Compassionate Coalition, the Marijuana Policy Project, and

Americans for Safe Access websites. These seem to be sensible

websites to learn more about MMJ, and they are all loaded with good links.

I wish you all the best with your treatments.

Thanks, Steve.

I haven't yet begun with the marijuana, but plan to soon. One of my concerns is

that a side effect can be lethargy, and what I need is more energy to combat the

awful fatigue, So it's a judgment call, balancing pain relief with fatigue. It's

an interesting situation - while MMJ is legal in California, possession and use

is still a federal offense, so I could be " busted " . I've been told that in

public I should always use the term " medicine " rather than marijuana. The clubs

where it can be purchased (with proper medical authorization and ID) are not

marked. All part of our wonderful and enlightened (smirk) health care system.

The fact that I got a letter of authorization from my neuro does represent

progress. 12 states have legalized MMJ, 38 to go. Indiana may get there. Keep

the faith.

Thanks for the websites, all. of which are helpful and informative.

Thanks especially for the encouragement. It means a lot.
