Guest guest
Thanks for this great post ! It really did an excellent job of weighing the pros and cons of DNA testing for asymptomatic individuals. When all is said and done, it really is a matter of personal preference and making an informed decision. My boys are are both adopted and it never occurred to us to even consider having DNA testing done prior to the adoptions. 15 years ago the thought just never crossed our minds. 's symptoms and ultimate diagnosis have, however, helped his birthmother understand what options she needs to consider if she chooses to have more children. It also has helped her brother and his wife in paying more attention to symptoms that were starting to be exhibited in their older daugher. We are lucky that we have a relationship where these things can openly be discussed.
